MTT assay is a colorimetric assay for assessing cell viability, cytotoxity and proliferation. NAD(P)H-dependent oxidoreductase enzymes in the cells, reduces MTT compound to an insoluble formazan product and thus, reflects the number of viable cells. The measured absorbance (590 nm) is directly proportional to the number of viable cells.
