Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is maternally inherited, circular, double-stranded DNA, which is present in the mitochondrial matrix. Human mtDNA encode 37 genes out of which 13 are proteins. Mitochondria generate most of the energy in the form of ATP and any mutation in mtDNA leads to compromised OXPHOS state and disease conditions. Isolation of mtDNA is typically a laborious process requiring extensive sample processing. BioIntersect’s Mitochondria DNA Isolation Kit provides a simple, easy-to-do, microcentrifuge-tube based method for isolating mtDNA from cultured mammalian cells and tissues. Our Kit uses a non-mechanical, reagent-based method that allows multiple samples processing in 30 minutes or less.
